Overview
Commentr adds moderated comments to Framer sites through installed code components, a hosted API, setup emails, and a Tenant Portal for comment review. Customers choose a subscription plan, complete Stripe Checkout unless using the reviewer-only plan, create a workspace, and receive the Tenant Key needed by the Framer components.
Framer Plugin
Installs Commentr Inline, CTA, and Sidebar components into a Framer project.
Tenant Portal
Lets workspace admins review comments, manage subscription access, and update billing.
Setup Email
Sends the Tenant Key, portal link, allowed domains, API base URL, and next steps after provisioning.
Customer setup
Installation Instructions
- Install the Commentr plugin from the Framer Marketplace.
- Open the plugin in the Framer project where comments should appear.
- Enter the workspace name, primary email, optional billing email, allowed site domain, locale, and time zone.
- Select the components to install: Inline, CTA, Sidebar, or any combination.
- Continue to pricing, choose the subscription level, and complete secure Stripe Checkout.
- After Stripe Checkout, complete the workspace setup form.
- Keep the plugin open. Once the workspace is provisioned, the plugin installs the selected components with the Tenant Key and API settings already filled in.
- Publish or preview the Framer site and submit a test comment.
- Open the Tenant Portal from the setup email to approve, reject, or review comments.
Marketplace review
Reviewer Flow
The Reviewer plan is a no-cost path for Framer Marketplace review. It bypasses Stripe so the reviewer can validate the full product experience without entering payment information.
- Install the Commentr plugin on a Framer site.
- Enter workspace, email, domain, locale, time zone, and component selections.
- Choose the Reviewer plan when pricing appears.
- Complete the workspace setup flow. No card is required.
- Confirm the plugin automatically creates the selected Framer components.
- Confirm the setup email includes the Tenant Key, Tenant Portal link, allowed domains, API Base URL, Script Origin, and next steps.
- Open the Tenant Portal and verify comments can be reviewed and moderated.
Daily use
User Manual
Using Installed Components
Place Commentr components on the pages where comments should appear. The Tenant Key, API Base URL, Script Origin, and environment should already be populated by the plugin. Use URL Override only when a page needs to moderate comments under a different canonical URL.
Moderating Comments
Open the Tenant Portal, sign in with the workspace email, and use the review queue to approve, reject, or inspect comments. Approved comments become visible on the connected Framer site.
Managing Domains
Commentr only loads for allowed domains attached to the workspace. Use the domain entered during setup for production. Contact support if a domain needs to be changed or added after setup.
Setup Email
Keep the setup email available. It contains the Tenant Key, portal link, environment, allowed domains, API Base URL, Script Origin, and component list needed for support or manual reconfiguration.
Subscriptions
Billing and Plan Management
Paid subscriptions are managed through Stripe. Customers can open subscription management from the Tenant Portal to update payment methods, view billing details, or cancel. Commentr uses Stripe as the payment source of truth while Commentr remains the workspace, tenant, usage, and access system of record.
- Paid plans require Stripe Checkout before a customer workspace is created.
- Trials and renewals are reconciled from Stripe webhook events.
- Canceled or unpaid subscriptions can block active widget access after Stripe reports the subscription state.
- Fair-use comment limits are enforced by Commentr, not Stripe usage billing.

Troubleshooting
The widget does not load on my Framer site.
Confirm the site domain matches the allowed domain in the setup email, the site has been published, and the component still has the Tenant Key, API Base URL, Script Origin, and production environment.
The plugin says checkout is opening but components are not installed yet.
Keep the plugin open until Stripe Checkout and workspace setup are finished. The paid flow hands the Tenant Key back to the plugin only after the workspace is created.
I did not receive the setup email.
Check spam or junk folders, then ask support to resend the setup email from the customer account in the admin console.
A comment is not visible publicly.
Open the Tenant Portal and check whether the comment is waiting, needs review, rejected, or approved.
Answers
FAQ
Does Commentr collect card details directly?
No. Stripe Checkout and Stripe Customer Portal collect and manage payment method details.
Can I install more than one component?
Yes. The plugin can install Inline, CTA, and Sidebar components in the same Framer project.
What is a Tenant Key?
A Tenant Key connects installed Framer components to the correct Commentr workspace and environment.
What happens if I exceed fair use?
Existing comments remain available. New comments can continue to be accepted but may wait for manual approval until the monthly reset or plan upgrade.
